Madama Butterfly - Opera

American naval officer Pinkerton manages to marry Madame Butterfly thanks to Goro, a matchmaker. Disowned by her family for marrying a foreigner, she hopes her marriage will last a lifetime. For her husband it is just a small adventure outside the country, so he ends up returning to the United States where he rebuilds his life while she, pregnant, awaits his return. When Pinkerton returns to Japan to visit with his new wife and meets his son, he decides to take him to the United States. It is then that Madame Butterfly , in the absence of her loved ones, decides to commit suicide.
